The Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD) will offer meals for children for the summer of 2021 as part of a special program. Weekly boxes of five breakfasts and five lunches will be available at seven PCSSD school locations.
“At PCSSD, we know summertime can sometimes be hard for families with no school,” Regena English, Student Nutrition Director, says. “We want to ensure that each student is provided with meals to help where we can. We encourage all families to come out to one of our summer locations and grab free meals for your student.”
Starting on Monday, June 7 and throughout the summer, the meal program will be available. Children are not required to be enrolled in the district in order to receive a meal box. The locations will be open on Mondays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This program is funded through a federal reimbursement by the Seamless Summer Feeding Program, a program that helps school districts provide summer meals in low income areas as an extension of the National School Lunch Program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
