What’s the best burger in Arkansas? It’s a hard question – maybe impossible to definitively say. But that hasn’t stopped AY Magazine from making a list of the best burgers in the Natural State that you have to try!
AY Publisher Heather Baker sat down with KARK’s D.J. Williams to talk about the best burgers around Arkansas. Getting a delicious burger is the key part, Baker says, but the atmosphere is just as crucial. For example, at David’s Burgers, you always are getting the top notch experience. “At David’s Burgers, you’re going to get a great burger, and you’re going to get great customer service,” she says.
Sometimes, the experience has more to do with the history behind the restaurant. Doe’s Eat Place is a prime example, according to Baker. “You think of them as that big porterhouse steak, but they have a delicious burger,” she says.
Making memories is an important part of any culinary experience, but the memories made at a humble burger joint can last a lifetime. “You have a list of all kinds of good places. You said that some of these places bring back memories for you,” Williams says.
For Baker, that memory palace, when it comes to burgers, is CJ’s Butcher Boy Burgers.
“CJ’s in Russellville. On the way to Razorback games, we always stop in CJ’s. It’s like the butcher’s shop where you walk in and the meat is in the window,” she says. “You go in and all they have is burgers and fries. But it is your standard amazing burger. It is great every time.”
Williams recommends Hugo’s in Fayetteville for those wanting a tasty burger and a great time. “You go downstairs and it’s an incredible atmosphere,” he says.
If you want to learn more about the burgers that Arkansas has to offer, pick up a copy of AY Magazine and start checking restaurants off of the Burger Bucket List. “We’ve been putting together bucket lists. You can drive around Central Arkansas. You can do the checkmarks of where you want to go,” Baker says.
There might even be some more burger fun coming soon. Williams suggests AY and KARK join forces for a burger tour of Arkansas. “I’m thinking AY and KARK need to partner up and go on a road tour and check out every restaurant on this list,” he says.
Who knows? AY might be touring soon!
