What to do with the forecast of freezing temperatures and your garden?
We talked to the experts at Hocott’s Garden Center on Kavanaugh Blvd. in Little Rock. Scott Simmons, the operations manager there, says to “make sure your [tender annuals] are covered with a bed sheet” and to water well.
The forecast varies between a low of 30 and 32 for the metro tomorrow, and north Arkansas for sure will have a dip in temps.
Simmons says that hydrangeas and azaleas, for sure, need to be covered if you can. The rain we have had protects a little, but it hasn’t been enough to really protect them. Water actually keeps the ground warm.
He adds, “All summer annuals have to be brought in or protected. It’s best to be prepared for the worst.”
