Presbyterian Village, in partnership with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, has announced a special luncheon to honor eight residents that are more than 100 years old on the 100th day of 2022.

“Reaching the 100-year milestone is such a rarity in our society, and we owe it to our residents and those who have cared for them to mark it in a special way,” says Chris Marsh, executive director of Presbyterian Village. “Presbyterian Village’s partnership with UAMS is critical to maintaining the quality of life of our residents and peace of mind for our families.”

The centenarians will be honored on Monday, April 11, in the location’s chapel at 11:30 a.m. Each resident will be interviewed by Dawn Yakoubian, a staff member, which will be recorded by the UAMS media services department. The video will be live-streamed beginning on April 11.

“We are deeply honored and grateful to Presbyterian Village to be sharing this wonderful occasion, in celebration of our beloved centenarians and future centenarians, on this 100th day of the calendar year,” says Dr. Jeanne Wei, director of the Reynolds Institute on Aging at UAMS. “A sage person once said, ‘Learning at the feet of a wise elder for one hour is worth far more than reading books everyday for years.’ You are our wise advisers and inspirational leaders, we look forward to you for your guidance.”

The mission of Presbyterian Village is to provide comprehensive, continuing care for older adults that promote health, comfort, security and spiritual well-being in a living environment that fosters personal dignity and independence.

“We are most appreciative of this opportunity to share in this glorious moment in each of their lives,” Wei says. Thank you so much Margaret, Lotta, Jo, Vivian, Dorothy, Alma, Kathryn and Dorothy.”
