My three-year anniversary with Vowell, Inc. as publisher isn’t until February, but I gotta tell you. In three short years, our team has rebranded, redesigned and added impressive new concepts to the magazine. One of the new additions is AY’s “Intriguing Women” feature. You can imagine how thrilled the 40 women were to know they were chosen. Our staff worked hard to narrow down the list. It was very competitive. Women from all walks of life are represented. One remarkable woman is a homemaker, raising five children and also operating a charitable foundation in her spare time. Another woman is a young second generation entrepreneur who owns a business that is killing it in Hot Springs. One of the women represents the outdoors as a wildlife officer for Game & Fish while another is a state representative. It’s an amazing group of women. Congratulations!
Our state excels when it comes to stellar women. I say that because I look around the office and see a group of women who excel in their fields as advertising executives, graphic designers, administrators, ad coordinators and operations officers. Down the hall sits the one who started it all, Vicki Vowell, a trailblazer in publishing. (If you’re wondering what our male count is, it’s five brave men who put up with our hairspray, high heels and chatter. And we couldn’t make it without them.)
I’m rambling on about our staff because this group of professionals does an amazing job at putting out every issue, especially this larger-than-normal one. If you enjoy this issue, I hope you will entertain getting a subscription. That way you’ll know that it will be delivered to your door every month. AY’s pick up rate it close to 100 percent, so it’s possible you might miss one. Don’t! Go to aymag.com and subscribe today.
As for my busy life, this month I have the honor and privilege of being named Woman of the Year by Women’s Own Worth, a charity dedicated to help women escape abuse. The fundraiser at the Governor’s Mansion will be spectacular. I am humbled that so many people want to donate to get safe transition homes built for moms and their children facing abuse. Every dollar counts. Go to www.womensownworth.com to make a donation. We are making a difference!
Happy fall, y’all, and drop me a line to tell me what you like and don’t like about AY About You.
