There has been a barrage of hot fast food chain gossip floating around the social webs for several months that Texas burger based chain Whataburger would be putting down stakes with food franchises throughout the state.

The restaurant currently has six locations in Arkansas with two in Fayetteville, one in Springdale, Rogers, Texarkana, and the newly open location at 49 Highway 79 Bypass North in Magnolia, Arkansas.

As early as this Spring rumors had already abounded about a possible Little Rock location as well as an eminent franchise opening in Fort Smith, according to the Fort Smith City of Government on Facebook. Whataburger however is still going through the planning and permitting process so no one is 100% certain where or when the location will open in that city.

The recent opening of the Whataburger in Magnolia has given weight to the talk that they would be entering the Central Arkansas region and as of yesterday according to local travel and news Facebook page #FunTV developer Matt Wilson will be opening a future location in Hot Springs either possibly at the corner of Carl Drive and Central Avenue near Chambers Bank, or possibly on another site in the vicinity of Central Avenue or Higdon Ferry.

This of course means that they are also still in the development and planning process so Whataburger fans don’t need to get too excited. With all of the rumors and speculation some might think that fast food fans are putting the cart before the horse, (or in this case before the cow) as outside fast food chains steer into the Natural State. Many Hot Springs residents are already asking, “do we need more fast food burger chains?”
