My friend Mara is someone I trust when it comes to recipes – and Netflix recommendations. You’ll want to get in her inner circle too once you make her Aunt Dot’s Chocolate Sheet Cake. I’m probably going to make it myself real soon. I mean, if we are in this together, I want us all to gain the COVID-19. Pounds that is.
Mara’s Aunt Dot’s Chocolate Sheet Cake
Ingredients:
For the cake:
2 cups flour
2 1/2 cups sugar
2 sticks butter
4 oz baking chocolate
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Melt butter and chocolate in double boiler. Mix sugar, salt, flour; add melted chocolate & butter. Beat in eggs, vanilla and nuts. Spread in a 9 x 13 pan. It will he thick. Bake at 350 for 18-20 but use the wooden pick test. DO NOT OVERCOOK
For the icing:
Melt 1 1/2 sticks butter and 3 squares of chocolate, add 1 box of powdered sugar and this is important: 1 1/4 tsp Maple flavoring. Then add Pet Milk or heavy cream to thin, beat till creamy. Spread on cooled cake.
