We are rolling into a new month of Bucket List trips, and this one is bound to be a hit, especially with seafood lovers. In April, AY Publisher Heather Baker and KARK host Hilary Hunt are on the hunt for the best sushi in Central Arkansas.

While Arkansas is a good distance from any oceans, the state has some prime sushi options. Whether you like your sushi fresh or cooked, we’ll find the perfect spot for you.

To start off, Baker and Hunt are heading to the venerable Oceans at Arthur’s for a bite – or bites – to eat. “I can’t wait. This is one of my favorite spots,” Hunt says.

At Oceans at Arthur’s, the staff is well-prepared for this culinary duo. They have prepared a wide array of sushi dishes, including a salmon sushi bowl and a tuna sushi bowl, along with multiple rolls. The rolls include the Tiger roll, the Kamikaze Roll, the Godzilla roll and the Red Dragon roll.

“Everyone in this restaurant is so jelly of us right now, Hillary. This is so amazing. This Godzilla roll is all mine. You are not touching it,” Baker says. That Godzilla roll, which is lightly fried, features spicy crawfish, blue crab, shrimp temperature and cream cheese.

“Yummy. What about the kamikaze roll?,” Hunt says. This signature Kamikaze roll has tempura shrimp, spicy crab, clue crab and avocado, as well as jalapeno. This roll is actually one of Baker’s favorites. She says, “I love it because it has amazing avocado on it, and the sauce is so good.”

While the rolls are the workhorses at Oceans at Arthur’s, the sushi bowls are the stars. These picture-perfect bowls are filled with fresh fruit and fish that are truly mouthwatering. The salmon sushi bowl contains rice, avocado, blue crab, spicy crab, mango, kiwi, ginger marinated salmon, sesame oil and soy sauce. The tuna sushi bowl contains the same ingredients but features ginger marinated tuna instead of salmon.

“You know this Florida girl, she loves some fresh fish. This tuna bowl is definitely for me because it’s not only pretty but it is tasty,” Hunt says.

“It looks so fresh, but I’m all about that fully cooked sushi. That’s why I like to come here because Jerry always hooks me up. This Tiger is stuffed with crab, and it is delicious,” Baker says. Oceans at Arthur’s has a range of fried sushi rolls available, in addition to its raw menu.

“They have something for everyone, including the Godzilla roll,” Hunt jokes.

Hunt closes out the Bucket List trip with a Red Dragon roll, which she almost doesn’t want to eat – almost. This roll features blue crab, shrimp, cucumber, tuna, avocado, and spicy ‘n sweet sauce. “This roll is almost too pretty to eat. It’s got everything you need – avocado, tuna, yum,” Hunt says.

Filled up with sushi, Baker and Hunt call it a day for the Sushi Bucket List. But they’ll be back next week to try out some more delicious sushi in Arkansas. Tune in next Wednesday to find out where they go next.
