RQM Homes is one of the premier custom home building companies in Central Arkansas with nearly 20 years of experience in custom home building, home renovations, kitchen and bath remodeling and residential new construction.
General Contractor Russell Milam founded RQM in 2000, when he and his wife, Quenna, began buying and remodeling investment properties while building their personal residence.
“We started with buying and selling fixer uppers and moved into the new construction and custom home building side within the same year,” Milam says.
Today, the company has leveraged its experience and relationships into a knowledgeable network of professionals that sets it apart.
“We are a local business focused upon building and benefiting our community for long term growth, and our reputation means everything to us,” Milam says. “Over the years, we’ve worked with many subcontractors and have put together a team that cares about their work and creating a finished product that all of us are proud to put our name on. We think the world of them, and we understand that we are only as good as they are.”
While Russell oversees building, Quenna customizes the design of each home, making their finished product top notch. Their son, Caleb, joined the family business in 2016. He serves as project manager of new construction and also assists in the real estate investment side of the business.
In addition to home building, RQM also does consulting work for people wanting to get into the real estate field and has helped hundreds of people all over the country purchase properties.
Tiffany O’Dwyer is the principal broker and a co-owner of Modern Realty Group. She bought her RQM home in December.
“We didn’t custom build the home, but it’s like we did,” O’Dyer says. “It has everything we wanted – from high ceilings, coffered ceiling in master, and the large brick fireplace in den. We absolutely love this home and will be recommending RQM to as many people as possible.”
Steve Fischer of Highlands Residential Mortgage helped her through the loan process.
“We bought our house on Dec. 7, and Highlands got us closed in three weeks,” says O’Dwyer. “The area we bought in is a brand new phase of Epernay in west Little Rock, and lots of houses are being built around me. My company is almost two years old, and we are all very busy. There are six of us, and we’re all experienced agents with listings in the Central Arkansas area.”
Milam says there are several aspects of building homes that make his job so enjoyable, including seeing projects come to life, the excitement on homeowners faces when their ideas come together, and the everyday challenge of facing something new.
“Building someone’s biggest investment is something we take great pride and passion in. Our approach to working with our clients, we believe, will always leave them with a home they envisioned and a product that everyone is proud of. The relationships with my clients many years after we built their homes, running into them at ball games or grocery stores and seeing the smiles makes us proud that we have taken an emotional experience for them and helped turn it to be a pleasant one is awesome.
“We love what we do,” he says. “No two houses are the same. Learning keeps you young, well at least young at heart.”
