Arkansas is home to some of the tastiest restaurants in the South. Many of these gourmet and unique dishes remain on menus for years and are true classics. Others are brand new, from restaurants that have just opened. All are irresistible. These foods exhibit exquisite flavors and pairings: they consist of tender meats, fresh vegetables, homemade sauces and condi- ments, and spices and herbs galore.
These local Little Rock restaurants all have something in common — they make inventive and savory dishes that are perfect for all palates.
Southern Table offers a shared, seasonal menu for those with a diverse food palette. One of the restaurant’s most well-known dishes is its bruschetta. Chef Margie Raimondo prepares different types of bruschetta, ranging from vegetarian to meat and seafood based toppings. A key ingredient is the grilled bread, which is the canvas for the fresh and flavorful ingredients.
Southern Table uses seasonal ingredients to create toppings, including the sweet and sour eggplant caponata, mushrooms with fresh basil, smoked duck and fig, and house-cured salmon to name a few. Each topping is made from scratch with locally grown and produced ingredients and herbs, whenever possible. The possibilities are endless, so stop by and see what is cooking in the kitchen.

Doe’s Eat Place is an Arkansas favorite. It’s a no-frills diner known for its award-winning steaks, along with being one of the popular restaurant spots for elite customers like President Bill Clinton. One of Doe’s delicious appetizers includes its beef tamales paired with its spicy chili. The tamales are wrapped in cornmeal and the chili is homemade. The largest entree on the menu is the choice porterhouse steak, one of Doe’s most well-known dishes. The steak is served family style with new potatoes covered in butter and paired with Texas toast, crunchy, fresh-cut fries and a marinated salad. These dishes are perfect for out-of-towners to get a taste of homemade Arkansas dishes.
