Just when you think you’ve seen it all, Silver Dollar City delights and amazes you all over again! Exciting news this year is the return of Nik Wallenda, world-famous “King of the High-wire.” From June 11-July 24, Wallenda is at Silver Dollar City for the premiere of Nik Wallenda’s Zirkus. “Zirkus,” produced exclusively for Silver Dollar City, includes “soaring acrobatics, aerial stunts, human pyramids, trick bicycling, juggling,” and of course, the family troupe’s “unparalleled high-wire walking.” Almost 10 years ago, Wallenda was at Silver Dollar City for his record-breaking stunt of dangling by his jaw from a helicopter 200 feet over the amphitheater with 4,000 people watching. (I was there … might have closed my eyes a time or two!) Wallenda holds 13 Guinness World Records, for feats like his walk over Niagara Falls and walking over the skylines of New York and Chicago. It’s quite a coup to have his internationally famous troupe at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri.
For some thrill-seeking of your own, there are Silver Dollar City’s seven roller coasters. (Seven!) Three of the coasters have impressive bragging rights. Outlaw Run has held the Guinness World Record for the steepest drop on a wood coaster. Time Traveler is the world’s “fastest, steepest and tallest spinning coaster.” Mystic River Falls has the tallest “drop” in the Western Hemisphere.
During Kids Fest, June 11-July 24, your kids can take on the all-new “exploratory adventure” in the town of Chuggington, with Chuggington’s Adventure Depot. Fireman’s Landing has 10 unique family attractions, designed for younger kids.
There are 10 family rides in the Grand Exposition, the Giant Swing, and don’t forget one of the first adventures at Silver Dollar City, the Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train — always a favorite!
And there’s so much more! The park has 100 demonstrating craftsmen and artisans. A decade ago, Silver Dollar City was crowned by Congress as The Home of American Craftsmanship. The highlight of all the crafts and artists is the Harvest Festival, this year Sept. 21-Oct. 29.
When you are at Silver Dollar City, you are never far from a tasty treat, a savory snack, or a hearty home-style meal. The Rivertown Smokehouse is the newest culinary experience. Funnel cakes might be the most famous treat at the City, but a tasty new treat is hot on its heels for the title: Cinnamon Bread!
Remember the dates to keep in mind as you plan your trips to the City are Kids Fest June 11-July 24; Moonlight Madness July 23-Aug. 7; Southern Gospel Picnic Aug. 25-Sept. 5; Country Music Days Sept. 8-11 and 15-18; the Harvest Festival Sept. 21-Oct. 29; and “An Old Time Christmas” is Nov. 5-Dec. 30.
The adventures and experiences, the sights and sounds — the tastes! — you’ll enjoy at Silver Dollar City seem endless. There is literally “something for everyone,” and “fun for all ages.” Grab a season pass so you don’t miss any of the fun!
