AY: What is your name and job title?
NB: Noah Binns, Staff Nurse at Central Arkansas Urgent Care
AY: Where is your hometown?
NB: Benton, Ark.
AY: What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?
NB: I’m not sure I have a favorite way to spend a Saturday. One great way would be a morning hike followed by a picnic and a relaxing evening. Another would be floating a river. A third would be hanging out with friends or family, throwing back a few drinks, having a cookout. Spending time with those you care about is the best way to spend any day. Unfortunately, I find myself working many weekends.
AY: If your house was on fire, what is the first thing you would save?
NB: This is a wholly unfair question. What size and type of fire? What time of day? Am I alone or with family? These all come into account in my mind as I ponder this question. I do believe that no material possession would be worth sacrificing or risking my life, but I wouldn’t leave a person behind. Insurance could cover all possessions and the only lacking part would be the memories associated with them. I don’t really keep any heirlooms or non-replaceable items in the house. People, however, (and pets) cannot be replaced.
AY: What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
NB: From my father: “Noah, you don’t have to be a husband to be a good dad.” This was great advice that I didn’t listen to at the time. After a hard-fought five years, my ex-wife and I realized that we are much better friends and parents apart than we ever could have been as a couple.
AY: Do you prefer to cook at home or eat out?
NB: I prefer to cook, though I don’t often do. I seem to always be on the run or lacking the amount of time required for cooking. This, mixed with the fact that I will rarely cook for myself, has my cooking times at a minimum these days. I really do enjoy cooking for an appreciative audience, and consider myself quite a good cook.
AY: If you could spend a day with any celebrity (living or not) who would it be?
NB: This was probably a more difficult question for me than it should have been. I first thought what is a celebrity? I’m not much for “pop culture” and definitely not one for the big stars of today. David Duchovny or James Woods would probably be interesting “celebrities” to hang out with. Natalie Portman would also be fun. All of these are highly educated and accomplished actors, but although I’d like to call them all friends, I doubt the experience would be life-changing. With that said, my answer is the Dalai Lama. I’ve been reading about his life recently, and I think to spend time speaking with and learning from such an inspirational spiritual leader could and would be life changing. This is my “living” answer.
AY: Your favorite vacation destination: beach or mountains?
NB: Any time away is well-appreciated, locale not important.
AY: Are you a cat person or a dog person?
NB: Dogs, hands down.
AY: Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Sleep? Who needs it.
