On Oct. 30, Sissy’s Log Cabin is kicking off its 50th Anniversary Food Drive to give back to local food banks.
Food drives will be held at each Sissy’s Log Cabin location. The company has locations in Little Rock, Conway, Pine Bluff and Jonesboro, as well as one in Memphis.
Through this food drive, Sissy’s Log Cabin is aiming to increase access to healthy food in its communities. It is encouraging donors to provide healthy nutritious foods that are nonperishable. These foods include canned or dry beans, peanut butter, canned tuna and salmon, grains like brown and white rice, pasta, macaroni and cheese, hot and cold cereal, canned vegetables, canned fruit, dried fruit, 100 percent juice drinks, granola bars and soups.
“Too many Americans live in homes that don’t always have enough food for everyone in the family,” Bill Jones, CEO of Sissy’s Log Cabin, said in a statement. “The social and economic impact of COVID-19 has heightened this problem, particularly in under-resourced communities. It’s our hope that this food drive will help close these gaps in our communities and aid those in need.”
Sissy’s Log Cabin is partnering with multiple organizations on the food drive. It is collaborating with First Ward/Living Grace Pantry in Pine Bluff; Arkansas Food Bank in Conway and Little Rock; Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas in Jonesboro; and Mid-South Food Bank in Memphis.
As part of the food drive, donors will have the chance to win raffle prizes. There will be a raffle at the drive’s conclusion, and participants will receive one raffle ticket for every 10 food items or $10 donated. One winner from each store will receive the big prize: a Sissy’s Log Cabin exclusive Lagos 50th Anniversary Bracelet.
The food drive begins Oct. 30 and runs through Nov. 13.
