Whether you like to stargaze or look up at the moon at night, tomorrow, Aug. 6th, marks the Eddie Bauer’s third-annual “Sleep Under the Stars Night,” which started in 2020 to celebrate the outdoor brand’s 100-year anniversary. The Natural State offers some of the best locations to get outside and celebrate the holiday, and picturesque Eureka Springs has a few especially scenic options for stargazing this year.
For those wanting to have the true outdoors experience, pitching a tent at Eureka Springs KOA is a great way to take in the stunning night sky. The campground offers hiking trails, fire pits, a playground, a basketball court and even a swimming pool. For another great way to beat the late summer heat, nearby Beaver Lake has everything from canoeing to scuba diving. For campers missing the city, downtown shopping, dining and attractions are just 10 minutes down the road.
For a more upscale way to spend the night, Beaver Lakefront Cabins provide breathtaking views of the lake framed by the Ozark Mountains. Cabin goers can get a private, unobstructed view of the night sky from their balcony, and some even include a personal hot tub.
If a night spent outdoors doesn’t sound appealing, the historic Basin Park Hotel in the heart of downtown offers an opportunity for rooftop stargazing. Guests can hop into the hotel’s crow’s nest and spot constellations with the help of a 10 Inch Truss Tube Dobsonian Telescope provided by Explore Scientific. Tickets for the free experience can be reserved online.
