During the holidays, there will be multiple opportunities to revel in the joy of the season at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion. First Lady Susan Hutchinson will be hosting a series of holiday events throughout December for the public.
The theme for the Governor’s Mansion’s Christmas events will be “Peace on Earth.”
Christmas at the Governor’s Mansion will kick off on Sunday, December 8 with a free Christmas Open House. The event will be kid-friendly, with free miniature train rides available for little ones. There will also be chances to meet Santa!
The open house will also feature performances from the Little Rock Central High School Orchestra.
This year, Hutchinson has announced that the Mansion will be participating in the Marine Toys for Tots campaign, with the Mansion serving as an official drop site for boys. Those planning to attend the open house are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Mansion.
“We are thrilled to partner with Marine Toys for Tots, an amazing organization that uses the gift of toys to spread a message of hope to needy children here in Arkansas and beyond,” Hutchinson said in a statement. “What better way to experience the joy of Christmas than to show love and kindness to our nation’s most valuable resource – our children.”
The open house will be held Sunday, Dec. 8 from 1-4 p.m.
Later in the month, Hutchinson will host two Christmas teas at the Governor’s Mansion. On Dec. 17, the Episcopal Collegiate School’s choir will perform, and on Dec. 18, Santa will make a special appearance.
Tickets for the Christmas teas are $50 apiece. The teas will be held at 2 p.m. both days.
