The sweet corn and watermelon at Me & McGee Market.

This oppressive Arkansas heat is good for one thing: the harvest. The local produce markets enjoy the projected 97° day for today with a heat index of 105°.

Our food editor, Kevin Shalin, did a great job in July’s AY About You taking us on a tour of three of the area’s most prominent markets: Me & McGee Market, The Curve Market and The Bramble Market.

Ratatouille anyone? The Curve Market has the goods to get you started.

Fresh tomatoes are plentiful (Me & McGee Market has nine different varieties right now!) as are peas, beans, peaches and the delicious sweet corn. Support these local businesses and pick up some delicious food. You might find your favorite food truck when you go. And always check their social media as they all have different hours and days they might be closed.

What’s your favorite thing to buy at one of these markets?
