Health, fitness and overall wellness are a few reasons why Jill Clifton, owner, and Amy Peters, manager, are so passionate about SWEAT-Little Rock Sauna Studio.
Jill was raised in Clarendon and moved to Little Rock in 1999. Central Arkansas is where her heart is and where she plans to stay and raise her family. Amy, who is a lover of the outdoors, has called Central Arkansas home for the last 30 years, where she raised both of her boys.
With a mission to create a community to help individuals, Jill was inspired to start SWEAT-Little Rock Sauna Studio.
“Helping people achieve their health and fitness goals is our passion,” Jill says. “SWEAT has an endless amount of health benefits that can be incorporated into anyone’s lifestyle.”
SWEAT-Little Rock Sauna Studio is an experience unlike any other in Central Arkansas. While most are familiar with the ins and outs of a traditional sauna, infrared sauna pods are a new experience to many.
Jill, out of curiosity, tried an infrared sauna — quickly noting the many benefits.
“Honestly, I don’t like to be hot, so trying an infrared sauna wasn’t on my bucket list per se. The health benefits drew me in. I was interested in seeing what the hype was about. I was looking for stress reduction, workout recovery and skin rejuvenation,” Jill says. “After my first experience, I was hooked! I felt amazing! I felt relaxed! I felt energized! I could feel the toxins leaving my body as I sweat, my skin was glowing, and while it was hot it was a comfortable heat.”
Benefits of infrared saunas are listed as detoxification, boosting immune system, boosting metabolism, fat loss, muscle reparation, stress reduction, deep tissue and pain relief, passive workout, wound healing, natural anti-aging and improved heart health.
Jill and Amy have experienced these benefits first hand.
“The biggest benefits I have seen from regular infrared sauna use is the loss of the extra padding around my midsection, increase in mood stability, relief from aches and pains and detoxification,” Jill says. “At my age, 43, adding infrared sauna therapy has been a game-changer. I feel great and know my body is healthy.”
For greater mood stability, SWEAT offers chromotherapy, known commonly as color therapy. Chromotherapy sauna benefits include physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing. For many who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, light — which can be achieved with the help of chromotherapy — can be a huge relief. According to SWEAT’s website, our bodies need the sun’s light to live — which can be broken down to the seven color spectrum, with each color catering to a specific need.
Amy saw the biggest benefit with building immunity.
“I have lived with an autoimmune disease since 18, and have used holistic healing in my regimens. The sauna raises your core temperature, creating fever-like symptoms. In doing so, it helps your body to go into its natural state and removes toxins, increasing your overall immune system,” Amy says. “This has helped me drastically and has changed my overall well-being.”
