With the new Tacos 4 Life location on Cantrell, AY Magazine thought it would be a good week to talk about one of the more popular tacos at the restaurant: the fried chicken taco.
The fried chicken taco has long been a favorite of mine, and I’m sure any T4L fanatic would agree with me. T4L tacos are all unique as they are carefully created and perfected before being added to the menu, but something about the fried chicken taco keeps me hooked.
Maybe it’s the fried chicken that is made using a family recipe. The savory seasonings that crust the chicken add a wonderful foundation for the toppings. The battered chicken is, in a word, art. It may seem dramatic, but you have to try it to understand.
The combination of drizzled honey and chipotle aioli contrastingly beautiful together. The honey is of course sweet and pairs well with the buttermilk fried chicken in a classic way, but with the addition of the subtly spicy aioli, the ingredients each contribute something different to the whole experience.
Lettuce is the final topping that gives an extra crunch and lighter flavor against the more heavier notes in the sauces and chicken. On a flour tortilla, this taco is worth every calorie.
