Taco Tuesday: La Frontera Mexican Grill
Ask any student and they’ll tell you that summer is unfortunately at its end. The heat may still be blaring, but the beloved months ending in “-ber” are just around the corner. Crisp air, red-hued colors, holidays and all the things that warm the soul are so close — why not break out the hot comfort foods a little early?
La Frontera Mexican Grill in Little Rock serves up all the classic favorites and the traditional dishes that make you feel almost fuzzy inside — not to sound too dramatic. In preparation for the fall season, this Taco Tuesday is featuring the chicharrón (pork rinds) in salsa verde tacos. Served on house-made corn tortillas with hot salsa and a giant chile on the side, this taco is the perfect transition to cooler weather.
Chicharrón is not the pork rinds you find crunchy and coated in barbeque seasoning; these pork rinds are the pork belly cubed, marinated in a special blend of spices and cooked tender. Each cube of meat on this taco was full of flavor and almost melted in the mouth.
More salsa verde was provided on the side, but the taco carried enough heat and flavor on its own. Onions and cilantro topped off the taco for the classic finish.
This taco plate comes with three tacos with sides of rice and beans. Needless to say, there is more than enough food to either devour and feel satisfied or to save for later.
