ou may not see him often, but rest assured — he is hard at work, building, repairing, constructing, fixing — you name it.

Nolan Sanders; nick-named long ago by a fellow employee at Oaklawn because of his mustache, “Taco”, is the Oaklawn Carpenter. Nolan lived in California for 15 years before returning to his home-state of Arkansas to be with family.

Having spent the past 40 years here, “Taco” has no doubt left his mark on Oaklawn, with a little elbow grease to go with it. Last year he built roughly 80 box seats with his own two hands.

With a toothpick in his mouth and a calm and steady manner, you can expect Nolan to be in the “woodworks” of Oaklawn, but nonetheless amongst the ranks of the vital employees that keep this ship sailing.
