Nutrition Hub

Back for another Thirsty Thursday, AY About You publisher Heather Baker headed over to Little Rock’s Nutrition Hub for this morning’s drink. Located on Cantrell, the Nutrition Hub serves the capital city as a staple smoothie and juice bar.

Owned by Colin Tripp, the Nutrition Hub serves products from HerbaLife, a network marketing company that specializes in nutrition and health products. Serving products on their menu, such as the chocolate peanut butter banana shake Heather enjoyed, is a part of the bigger process of nutrition the Nutrition Hub offers.

Tripp – who first got into the business temporarily and is now opening two new shops – explained that the intent of their HerbaLife products are meant to be consumed in a three-step process.

“The basic concept is our combo: it starts with an aloe shot – which is really good for your digestion tract and absorption of vitamins and minerals,” Tripp tells AY. “Then you move on to your herbal energy tea – a metabolism booster. We pair that with a ‘lift-off,’ or your energy. It’s equivalent to about two cups of coffee, caffeine-wise, but it’s clean and healthy energy without the crash. I used to drink coffee every morning, but now I just drink the tea.

“Finally, you go to your meal replacement shake – 21 vitamins and minerals, 24 grams of protein, and between 200 and 225 calories.”

However, he adds that many customers have evolved the process to pick and choose, often preferring just a tea or a shake on the go instead of the entire line up.

Tripp notes that the Nutrition Hub draws many repeat customers, including the casual studiers or workers. Offering a bar, tables and a welcoming ambience, he describes his hub as a mix between “a bar and a coffee shop.”

As for Heather’s shake…she’ll be visiting again soon!
