The ride is astonishing, and so are the facts. Time Traveler has a top speed of 50.3 mph and a 10-story, 90-degree vertical drop. (Really!) It’s the fastest, tallest and steepest complete-circuit spinning roller coaster ever. It’s the first and only with three inversions – dive loop, vertical loop and a Zero-G roll. It’s the first and only with a vertical loop (95 feet tall). And Time Traveler has the first and only double launch, with 0 to 47 mph in 3 seconds and 30 to 45 mph in 3.5 seconds. Wow!
The comments Tuesday were unanimous — “Awesome!” “What a smooth ride!” And yes, I heard, “We’re going again!” more than once. What’s the appeal of roller coasters? I think a friend of mine from Springfield said it best: “I’ve always loved roller coasters. They scare the living daylights out of me, but I guess it’s a way to risk your life… safely!”
Time Traveler, manufactured by Mack Rides of Waldkirch, Germany, founded in 1780, is a beautiful ride, and the theme is ingeniously carried out around the park. (You might meet Clockmaker Charles Henry and his daughter Emeline!) If you’re a Time Traveler, do you travel back in time or forward? Since 1960, visitors to Silver Dollar City have been traveling back in time, “Creating memories worth repeating.” Isn’t it time to plan your visit?
