There are always great things to do in the Natural State, and AY has compiled some of the most exciting events. Here are the top 10 weekend events coming up from Friday, April 16 to Sunday, April 18.

 

Friday, April 16-Saturday, April 17

What: SoMa Entertainment District

Where: SoMa neighborhood in Little Rock

When: 5-9 pm

The SoMa Entertainment District has opened back up. You can eat outside at the SoMa Outdoor Dining Room and take alcoholic beverages outside from approved restaurants. Participating restaurants include Rock Town Distillery, Community Bakery, Esters, Rock N Roll Sushi, South on Main, Raduno, Loblolly, The Root Café and Mockingbird Bar & Tacos. There will be live music on Fridays and Saturdays.

 

Friday, April 16-Saturday, April 17

What: 2021 Arkansas Folk Fest

Where: Mountain View Court Square

When: 11am Friday, 9am Saturday

Get ready for the 58thedition of the Arkansas Folk Festival. You can enjoy looking and shopping for local crafts, enjoying family-friendly activities, and of course, taking in some of the best folk music in the world.

 

Friday, April 16-Sunday, April 18

What; Arkansas Hot Air Balloon State Championship

Where: Boone County Regional Airport in Harrison

When: 4-9 pm Friday, 7am-9pm Saturday, 7-8:30am Sunday

Marvel at hot air balloons ascending over Harrison in the 25thannual Arkansas Hot Air Balloon State Championship. This fun event will feature a friendly competition among hot air balloonists, as well as a paper airplane competition for kids, a balloon glow, live music and more.

 

Friday, April 16

What: The Virtual Evolve Gala

Where: Virtual

When: 7pm

The Evolve Gala benefits the Centers for Youth & Families, which provides prevention, intervention and treatment services for children and families in Arkansas.The organization provides residential treatment, therapeutic foster care, day treatment, adult services and more. The event will feature the second season of “The Choice,” which was inspired by “The Voice.”In total, 46champions will be recognized, whileGreg Hatcher will be honored as the 2021 Hero of Hope.The event comes with a meal that you can pick up on Friday from 4-6:30pm from the Rusty Tractor in Little Rock.The cost is$75 for a virtual ticket.

 

Friday, April 16-Saturday, April 17

What: The Un-Seafood Feast

Where: Nana’s Organix Grocery Store

When: 5pm on Friday, 4pm on Saturday

-Nana’s Organix Grocery Store in North Little Rock is hosting a vegan-friendly Un-Seafood Feast on Friday and Saturday. The feast will be held with outdoor seating.. The menu includes a charcuterie-less board for 2, crabcakes, fried shrimp salad, and a seafood feast. Prices start at $11.99 per dish and go up to $19.99.

 

Saturday, April 17

What: Little Rock vs. Memphis Blues rugby game

Where: Little Rock Rugby Pitch at 14301 Dineen Drive

When: 2 pm

This is the first men’s rugby match of 2021. The Little Rock Stormers will take on the Memphis Blues Rugby Club with kick-off at 2pm.Free

 

Saturday, April 17

What: Apple Blossom Handicap race

Where: Oaklawn Racing Resort Casino

When: Saturday, April 17

The Apple Blossom is a one and 1/16 mile race between female horses age 4 years and up. The winner’s purse is $1 million. There is also the Okalwn Handicap for 4 year old and up on Saturday. This race is also $1 million. -Tickets are $0 to $4.50 depending on your seat location. (The outdoor apron area is free admission but there’s a 50 cent fee for ordering ticket online.)

 

Saturday, April 17

What: DREAMS – A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac

Where: The Legendary Vapors in Hot Springs

When: Saturday, April 17 at 7:30 pm

Love Fleetwood Mac? Head to Hot Springs to hear from this Fleetwood Mac tribute band. There will be a beer and wine cash bar at the event. There will be additional shows later in April and May. The cost is only $45

 

Sunday, April 18

What: Spring Mustang Show & Shine

Where: Outlets of Little Rock

When: Sunday, April 18 from 1-4 pm

This event will showcase a vast array of Mustangs from people in Central Arkansas. This family-friendly event will be an open show with no judging or awards. Admission is free. If you’re bringing a Mustang, there will be people directing where to park. There will be a space between every car. Masks are required.

 

Sunday, April 18

What: 2021 Spring Bridal Show

Where: Statehouse Convention Center

When: Sunday, April 18 from 12:30 to 5 pm

This event will be a massive showcase on all things weddings. There will be multiple fashion showcases from the Bridal Cottage, Dillards, Bella Bridesmaids, David’s Bridal and more. There will be dance-off contests, and the winners will receive a DJ package for their wedding. The cost is $10.
