Each Friday, AY President and Publisher Heather Baker sits down with the guys at 103.7 The Buzz to share some of the hottest events going on over the weekend in Arkansas. With so many fun things going on, you shouldn’t be limited to just a few events, though!

There are always great things to do in the Natural State, and AY has compiled some of the most exciting events.
Friday, June 11
What: Toad Suck Daze Concert
Where: Reynolds Performance Hall
When: 7:30pm
The Toad Suck Daze finale concert with Jimmie Allen and Travis Denning. The concert will take place at Reynolds Performance Hall on the UCA campus starting at 7:30pm. Jimmie Allen has made history as the first Black artist to start his career with two consecutive No. 1 hits on country radio: “Best Shot” and “Make Me Want To.” Travis Denning is a country music chart topper nominated for CMA and ACM Awards with a new song out, “Freedom Was A Highway,” that features Brad Paisley. General admission bleachers are $35 and general admission floor spots are $45. Tickets can be purchased online or at Reynolds Performance Hall from 10am-4pm.

What: Crawfish Boil
Where: First Financial Music Hall, El Dorado
When: 6pm
A crawfish boil for the family with crawfish, shrimp and chicken provided by Crawfish Kings. For sweet tooths, Oh How Sweet Cotton Candy can help out. Singer Trey Gauthreaux will kick the evening off followed by headliners Pat Mason and Bayou Boogie. Trey Gauthreaux will make a comeback for the afterparty at the end of the night. The Kilt Axe Throwing will be there for some axe throwing fun. Children under 12 get in free, $6 admission for adults.

What: Wynne FarmFest
Where: Downtown Wynne
When: Friday 5pm-9pm, Saturday 9am-9pm
The town of Wynne, Arkansas has been putting on their famous Farm Fest since 1976. Setting up in Downtown, the event will have arts and crafts, carnival rides, a car show, live music and the 12th annual Delta Smoke BBQ.

What: 2021 River Cities Dragon Boat Festival
Where: Lake Willastein Dr, Maumelle
When: June 11 6pm – June 12 3pm
The River Cities Dragon Boat Festival is back this year on Lake Willastein. For those that don’t know, Dragon Boat racing consists of 20 team members paddling a 46-foot-long boat to the beat of a drummer that sits at the helm of the boat. The event will kick-off with a party on June 11 full of live music, food and fireworks. Racing will begin at 9am on June 12 and will finish with an award ceremony for the champions. This event is a fundraiser for the Children’s Protection Center, a non-profit, child advocacy and safety center.

The 34th annual Springfest is back for 2021 in Heber Springs. A free festival for the family with an arts and craft show, food, games and live music.

What: Erin Enderlin at the Old State House Museum
Where: The Old State House Museum
When: 5:30 PM
*Admission is free – The Old State House Museum welcomes award-winning singer-songwriter Erin Enderlin back to perform. Fans can catch a free show by the Conway native, now living in Nashville, during 2nd Friday Art Night, June 11, starting at 5:30 pm

What: Saturday Morning Fishing Derby
Where:
- Derby registration for Andrew Hulsey State Fish Hatchery, Hot Springs
- Derby registration for Charlie Craig State Fish Hatchery, Centerton
- Derby registration for William Donham State Fish Hatchery, Corning
- Derby registration for Joe Hogan State Fish Hatchery, Lonoke
When: 8 a.m. until noon
Space is limited. Registration is manditory.
New this year, adults will also be able to fish with their kids.
Derby attendees must register in advance and will be permitted to fish from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, June 12. Due to Covid restrictions, there is a cap on the number of attendees. Registration is required for an entry ticket which is required for entry to the derby. Each child must be supervised by an adult. Each person may catch and keep up to three catfish.

What: 2021 Big Buzz Bass Tournament (The Buzz 103.7 is involved)
Where: Murray Park Lock and Dam, Arkansas River
When: 6am-2pm
The fifth annual Big Buzz Bass tournament hosted by Bradford Marine & ATV. Fishers from all over Arkansas are invited to launch from Murray Park Lock and Dam at 6am and fish the Arkansas river until weigh-in at 2pm. The top five teams will be awarded cash prizes with a combined value over $6,000. Registration for each participating boat is $100 and tournament rules can be found here.

What: My City is a Fort 2021 – Fort Building Contest
Where: Chaffee Crossing Historic District – Fort Smith
When: 9am-12pm
This is an event for kids ages 5-12 to show off their fort-building skills. Kids will compete against others in their age group building cardboard forts to win prizes from Parrot Island Waterpark. Each child will receive a fort kit that includes cardboard boxes and chalk to construct and decorate their forts. Following the announcement of the winners, live music will be played on the Blue Suede Stage.

What: Get the Summer Started Music Festival 2021
Where: Skinny Dip Cove on Lake Hamilton
When: 12pm
This festival is a floating concert on Lake Hamilton with a full line-up of entertainment. Hop in your boat and cruise to the 24-foot floating stage in Skinny Dip Cove on Lake Hamilton. There will be three live performances with Tragikly White as the headliner and Doug Kramer as the Master of Ceremonies playing tracks between each artist.

What: Breakfast with a Twist- Flamingos
Where: Little Rock Zoo
When: 8:00 AM
“Breakfast with a Twist” will include a boxed continental breakfast at the Elephant Stage and a special keeper talk on a featured animal. After breakfast, guests will go to the Civitan Pavilion for a painting session with Painting with a Twist staff! Learn more here.

What: Bird-Watching at Main
Where: Central Arkansas Library System Main Library
When: 11am
Uta Meyer of Audubon Arkansas will be leading a bird-watching walking tour of Arkansas’ native birds. Guests are invited to bring their own binoculars or use a set provided by Audubon Arkansas to see the intricate details of the birds living in our backyards.

What: Fishin’ by the River
Where: Cooks Landing
When: 10am-2pm
Open to anybody and everybody, the Amputee Coalition of Arkansas has organized a fishing day for families. There will be a fishing contest, games, face painting, bouncy house, food and drinks and a whole lot of fun for everyone. Just bring your fishing pole and lawn chair.

What: Baggo, Brats & Beer
Where: The Rail Yard LR
When: 3-6pm
Go out to the Rail Yard for a grilled brat, one free beer and happy hour drink specials all evening. Guests can enjoy their food and drinks while cheering on their favorite Baggo team competing in a tournament. 2-man Baggo teams with a 2-game guarantee have the chance to win prizes – but only if they’re a top finisher. Teams will need to register on Habitat for Humanity Central AR’s website. Food trucks will be present for more food options and a ceremonial “note” burning will be held for three Habitat homeowners that have successfully paid off their mortgages this year. Tickets for the event are $35 and will benefit the Homeowner Program.

Residents and nonresidents may fish anywhere in Arkansas noon Friday, June 11, until midnight Sunday night, June 13, without fishing licenses or trout permits. Regulations for Arkansas waters apply: daily limits, slot limits and length limits must be observed. An annual tradition sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and approved by Gov. Hutchinson, Free Fishing Weekend gives many people the opportunity to enjoy the amazing angling The Natural State has to offer. Learn more here.

What: MCA National Thunder on the Mountain Mustang Car Show
Where: Eureka Springs Convention Center
When: Starting 7am June 11
The Midwest Blue Oval Ford Club is hosting a Mustang car show. It started on Wednesday, June 9 and will run until 6pm on Sunday, June 13. There will be judging each day and an awards ceremony on Sunday. A brunch will be held on Sunday with a $25 registration fee.

What: Amity Trade Days
Where: Amity, AR
When: Friday, June 11 at 9am – Sunday, June 13 at 5pm
Amity Trade Days is one of the largest outdoor flea markets in the state. Vendors gather in three open air buildings to sell unique finds, handmade goods or repurposed items. Vendors include boutiques, fish and hunting, kettle corn, pork rinds, fried pies and a whole lot more food. This month’s event will include bounce houses and horse/pony rides for families. A chainsaw carver will be doing a live demonstration for extra entertainment.
