What: Leaning Into Legacy: Honoring Daisy L. Gatson Bates

Where: 112 W Daisy L Gatson Bates Drive (Little Rock)

When: 5:30 pm

Celebrating one of Arkansas’ most important civil rights activists, Flyght Black and The Nest are hosting “Leaning Into Legacy: Honoring Daisy L. Gatson Bates.” The night will kick-off at 5:30 pm with a happy hour provided by Flyght Black and Raduno Brick Oven & Barroom. At 6 pm, a panel of Black women leaders will share what it looks like to lean into legacy in 2022. The discussion will then be open up to the audience to talk about legacy and the lessons learned from influential leaders such as Daisy Bates. Attendees are welcome to view the “Leaning to Legacy” exhibit in The Canopy sponsored by the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center.

Panelists include: Quantia “Key” M. Fletcher, Director of Mosaic Templars Cultural Center; Jennelle Primm, Entrepreneur and marketing professional; Keisha Merritt, Director of Onboarding, Associate Learning & Leadership for Walmart.

What: Pole & Circus Cabaret Show

Where: Arkansas Circus Arts (North Little Rock)

When: 7 pm to 10 pm

Arkansas Circus Arts is transforming their space into “The Cabaret” theater for an evening of pole and circus variety acts. For one night only, guests 18 and older may attend to witness a gravity-defying show. Food and drinks will be available from La Casa De Mi Abuelita food truck, Point Remove Brews and Toast in Tow. What: PBR: Unleash the Beast

Where: Simmons Bank Arena (North Little Rock)

When: Times vary

Fire, explosions and mystery – that’s what the PBR Bull riding competition is bringing back to North Little Rock. The Top 35 bull riders in the world will be in Little Rock Saturday and Sunday to go up against the wildest and bucking bulls. PBR is an adrenaline-pumping show full of pyro, music and professional bull riding. What: Market at Chenal

Where: Rahling Circle in Chenal Valley (Little Rock)

When: 9 am to 3 pm

The Market at Chenal is returning this Saturday for one day, so be ready. The market will include fresh produce, bread and baked goods, canned and jarred products, fresh flowers and a variety of food, music and games. Don’t worry about leaving the market for lunch because there will be food truck vendors on standby. Show up ready to shop local and support small business owners in the area. What: Beat Goes On 5K 2022

Where: Saline Memorial Hospital (Benton)

When: 9 am

Drums keep pounding rhythm to the brain, and the beat goes on – to raise funds for the Saline Health Foundations. Proceeds from the Beat Goes On 5k will be used to provide AEDS (automated external defibrillators) and Narcan Rescue Kits to organizations throughout the community. Runners may participate in-person at Saline Memorial Hospital or virtual at a location of your choosing. Learn more about what participating in this race means to saving lives here.

What: Bubble, Bubble, Toil & Trouble: Soap Making Workshop

Where: Powhatan Courthouse (Powhatan)

When: 9 am to 1 pm

Running low on basic skills? Try out soap making with Powhatan Historic State Park. Participants will receive a booklet with soap recipes, bars of homemade soap and the secret knowledge on how to always make your own soap. Bring protective clothing as some materials used in the cold-process method are caustic and can burn. Come out and enjoy a free tour to celebrate the first annual Johnny Cash Day in Arkansas and Johnny’s 90th birthday!

He walked the line, he found his sunshine and he left big shoes for country artists to fill when he departed. Join the Dyess community in celebrating Johnny Cash at his childhood home on his 90th birthday. Tours of the home will be free on Feb. 26 to celebrate the first annual Johnny Cash Day in Arkansas. What: 7th Annual Cupcakes for Goodness Sake

Where: Heifer International Village (Little Rock)

Sugar, sugar, CareLink’s annual event, Cupcakes for Goodness Sake, has returned for its seventh year and is anticipated to be the sweetest year yet. Heifer Village will be transformed into everyone’s favorite alternative world: Candyland! For the sixth year, Central Arkansas’ Area Agency on Aging is challenging Arkansas’ bakers and pastry chefs to a baking competition. The theme for the year – all things candy – will be incorporated into every bake. Each delicacy will be voted on by attendees for their favorite cupcake while a panel of local, celebrity judges will determine the best and most creative cupcakes. What: SoMardi Gras 2022

Where: 24th and Main St (Little Rock)

When: 12 pm to 5 pm

Laissez les bons temps rouler, or for those that didn’t take French in high school, let the good times roll. South Main Street invites the community to SoMaridi Gras, a Mardi Gras parade in full New Orleans style. This year’s theme is “Pirates and Popstars” with faces like Madonna, Blackbeard and Captain Jack Sparrow in the Black Pearl. Once the final float has made it through the parade, stick around for more festivities in the SoMa district. The 9th Annual Little Rock Beard & Mustache Contest will be presented by The Root Cafe and The Arkansas Times in The Bernice Garden, the Second Line Band competition will feature several Little Rock School District bands and the Zydeco band Gerald Delafose and the Zydeco Gators.

What: Gil Shaham Plays Barber’s Violin Concerto

Settle in at The Robinson this weekend for some sweet music. The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra is featuring American violinist Gil Shaham. What: AllTeamBash Little Rock

All Team Bash is back in Little Rock to bring out the community for some awesome cars. ATB is one of the only car club events in the world, and they travel around the country to meet all the automotive communities to check-out cars, eat great food and have light-hearted fun.
