Want to bowl a turkey?

Usually, that means bowling three consecutive strikes, but this time, its literal. At Junior Achievement of Arkansas’ “Turkey Bowl,” you will get the chance to bowl an actual frozen turkey down a bowling lane.

Besides having a good time, why would you do this? The Turkey Bowl is Junior Achievement’s fundraiser for its educational programs that empower Arkansas students and teach them ab out the importance of financial literacy.

Since its founding, Junior Achievement has worked tirelessly to teach young students about how money, careers and business work.  Junior Achievement connects K-12 students with successful men and women who serve as role-models that they can learn from.

And that’s where Turkey Bowl comes in. It is a way to give back to Junior Achievement – to help them continue their work in Arkansas schools. The proceeds from the event will go towards their continued efforts in Arkansas.

Each team will receive two bowling games, food and drinks. Team members will also get to bowl a frozen turkey – the winner gets a Thanksgiving turkey!

Participating in Turkey Bowl is easy – there’s only five steps. Build a team of five bowlers, then pick one of three available time slots, pick a team name, register to bowl, and then start raising money. There is a sixth step, actually, have fun bowling!

The three time slots for Turkey Bowl are 11 am to 1 pm, 1:30 to 3:30 pm, and 4 to 6 pm.

Individuals can also donate to Junior Achievement even if they cannot make Turkey Bowl. Those who donate $30 or more will be put in a prize drawing.

To participate in the fundraising without bowling, register as a participant online, click on “Turkey” Donor” and then click on “Continue as an Individual Fundraiser.”

Event sponsorships are available for Turkey Bowl. Arkansas Money & Politics and AY Magazine are serving as the media sponsors while Windstream is the Turkey Lane Sponsor. The presenting sponsor is CenterPoint Energy. Other sponsors include BKD CPAs and Advisors, Caterpillar, Centennial Bank, Marco’s Pizza and PWC.

Registration is $50 per bowler, and $250 for a full team.

The Turkey Bowl will be held Friday, Nov. 15, at Millennium Bowl in North Little Rock.
