The 21st Annual Food & Foam Fest hosted by the Arthritis Foundation Arkansas at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock is a beer sampling event offering samples of over 400 varieties of beer, cider and wine from all over the world plus food tastings from local restaurateurs. The event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and there’s a special tasting for VIP ticket holders at 5:15 p.m. Tickets are $40-$65.

Friday and Saturday

Enjoy Sondheim and Lapine’s award-winning, magic-filled musical Into the Woods in which five fairytale characters venture into the woods, each seeking to fulfill a wish. The show held at Wildwood Park for the Arts is directed by Bevan Keating with choreography by Moriah Patterson. The address is 20919 Denny Road in Little Rock. Friday the show starts at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday shows are at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Saturday

Spend Saturday in beautiful Hot Springs National Park for the $1 million Arkansas Derby. The Derby has become the nation’s top prep race for three-year-old thoroughbreds chasing the Triple Crown. Oaklawn Racing & Gaming is located at 2705 Central Ave. Gates open at 11 a.m. on Saturday. First post is 12:30 p.m. General admission is free, reserved seating is $4.50 and limited to 8 on Derby Day.

Every April, Lyon College in Batesville holds the Arkansas Scottish Festival, one of the premier Scottish festivals in the United States. This year in it’s 39th, you attendees can enjoy bagpiping competitions, food, crafts and you can even participate in mile long race wearing a kilt. Race registration is $15.
