Prosecco, anyone? That’s what you might hear if you attend a party where Legacy Wine & Spirits is providing the adult beverages. West Little Rock native David Bevans, co-owner of Legacy, says, “I always like to start a party with bubbles. It’s a great way to greet one another. It gets everyone in a good mood right off the bat.”
Ray Imbro with Party Time Rental and Events says before you pop that cork, you need to reach out to him and his staff. They are the people behind hundreds of weddings annually, and if you have ever been to one of their stellar events, you saw how they supplied the linens, the flatware, the silver and the all-important margarita machine. Imbro and his team help with everything from logistics to execution. If he’s worked with you before, he remembers every jot and tittle of your property, your backyard or even your office. If it’s a first-time introduction, he’s a quick study.
“We sell the experience,” Imbro states. “We try to coordinate with your decor. The fact that it is a rental is one thing; we want it to look like it belongs in your home.” That’s why so many people depend on Party Time for every event they host. If you’ve been to the Greek Food Festival or Rexfest or planning to attend any of the prominent corporate groundbreakings or milestone events from Party Time in the future, you’ll witness the beautiful accouterment that Imbro and his staff provide. He adds, “Sometimes all you might need is glassware or linens. We are á la carte. We have no minimums as to what you can rent.” That gives peace of mind to the frantic party planner.
Once you’ve decided on your location and Party Time has been called, it’s time for the all-important menu decisions. Don’t know what direction you’re taking? Or have you decided every morsel? Either way, Crave Catering Co. is the caterer to call. Brooke Williams and Gina Marshall met in culinary school and have been knocking out outstanding buffets, baby showers and anniversary dinners for several years now. Both are employed full-time in other careers but have managed to cater and impress with every bite. It might be their famous Millionaire Bacon or charcuterie boards or impressive six-course meals. No request is too small, and it’s easy to see why 17 different brides have chosen Crave Catering Co. for their wedding receptions this year alone.
Williams says, “We want to know the location of the party. The exact location of where you want to serve the food.” That has a lot to do with what they serve. If the weather is warm, they consider how to protect the food to keep it safe and will even make suggestions for the menu. Plus they “are happy to do custom menus.” So you get what you want and what your guests are craving.
Back to the hooch. Legacy Wine & Spirits’ staff asks the questions “Who is coming to your party? Where is it? What’s your beverage preference?” Bevans says that “women typically gravitate towards wine and lighter style cocktails such as Moscow Mules and skinny margaritas.” With men, the trend is “craft beers,” he says, but here’s the challenge. “They mainly just come in cans,” and for weddings, brides “often want bottles.” He adds, “Men lean towards bourbon and scotch and if men choose a wine, they have more robust palettes,” so they choose anything from a Malbec to a cabernet sauvignon.
One item that has been a hit is local distillery Rock Town’s Bourbon Cream. “It is tremendously popular with our clientele. People like it for milkshakes too. Pour it over ice cream. Or have it in coffee,” Bevans says.
One dilemma party hosts face is how much alcohol to order. By law, Legacy Wine & Spirits can’t take returns. “We do our best to provide accurate numbers for a party so you don’t have too much or too little.”
We can’t ever think of a time that having leftover alcohol was a problem.
Flowers always make life more beautiful and that is never truer than with a party. It’s the icing on the cake, and that’s another thing we’ll discuss. Desserts. Crave Catering loves to wow its clients with yummy things that you can just pick up and eat. Lemon squares, brownies and banana cheesecake bites are to name a few.
But back to flowers. You can incorporate them in your desserts. But you need an expert to help with this one.
The one-named floral expert is Tanarah from Tanarah Luxe Floral. She will modestly tell you that it is her team that makes her successful, but the inspiration has to start somewhere. Tanarah Haynie has been making beautiful things from God’s bounty for more than 20 years. She and her staff have designed many of the large swanky events in the state including the wedding of 2016’s Miss America, Savvy Shields in Bentonville last summer. But Haynie and company shine for parties as well. It’s the visual wow factor that people will be talking about on social media.
When the party is in its infancy, Tanarah Luxe Floral loves to be in the mix of the planning process. Haynie says, “We have a comprehensive planning firm in house. From six to 600, we can help.” TLF can help set the tone with a layer of design; she says, “we lay the foundation.” She calls florists, “the original event planners. Not until the mid-90s did people start using” someone else to plan their party or event. Basic event design service is complimentary. Plus Haynie is great with stretching a dime. And aren’t we all looking for the best deal? She can suggest in-season florals that won’t break the bank.
Are you planning your perfect party for the fall? Then find the social media of these preferred AY About You vendors and get to work. We’d love to see your success story.
And by all means, if you have any leftover alcohol, we’ll take it off your hands. We are givers like that.
