Paninis and Company closing in July
- Paninis and Company is permanently closing its doors. The Little Rock restaurant announced its plans to close via social media on Tuesday, June 30. Paninis and Company will officially shut down on July 10 at 2:30 p.m.
Walmart removing ‘All Lives Matter’ merchandise following backlash
- Walmart is removing “All Lives Matter” merchandise from its website in the wake of a social media backlash against the products. In recent days, the retail giant has faced criticism for offering clothing with slogans similar to Black Lives Matter, including “All Lives Matter,” “Blue Lives Matter” and others, on its online marketplace. Social media users have criticized the slogans for diminishing or ridiculing the Black Lives Matter movement.
Minor League Baseball cancelled; Travs, Naturals will not play
- The 2020 Minor League Baseball season has been cancelled, the organization announced Tuesday, meaning no baseball this summer for the Arkansas Travelers and Northwest Arkansas Naturals. The move was made after Major League Baseball informed the minor leagues that it would be unable to supply players due to the pandemic. The Travs and Naturals, members of the Class AA Texas League, are the state’s only minor league teams.
SAU announces first doctoral program for university
- Southern Arkansas University will now offer the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Rural and Diverse Educational Leadership. The first doctoral class will be admitted for Fall 2021. The program will be fully online and will take three and a half years.
