Rutledge planning 2022 run for governor’s office

  • Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge is reportedly tossing her hat into the ring for the next governor’s race. In an interview with the Associated Press, Rutledge said that she is planning to run in the 2022 governor’s race. Rutledge has been expected to make a run for the governor’s office after Gov. Asa Hutchinson term-limits out.

 

Atlas Bar permanently closed yesterday

  • Atlas Bar, located in the SoMa neighborhood, is shutting down on July 1. According to a social media post, the closure will be permanent.

 

Fayetteville officially bans single-use Styrofoam

  • As of yesterday, an ordinance banning the use of single-use Styrofoam has taken effect. The ordinance was passed in November of 2019 and was scheduled to go into effect May1. However, due to COVID-19 the implementation date was pushed back to July.

 

Virtual patriotic bike contest held in Paris

  • The Paris Arkansas Chamber of Commerce will host an online, patriotic bike decorating contest for kids under the age of 12 in honor of Independence Day 2020. Voting ends on July 7, while winners will be announced July 8.
